As part of the City’s ongoing Downtown revitalization efforts, several artists were commissioned to paint murals on safety bollards across the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of Castro Street:

New Mural by Fernanda Martinez at Rengstorff Park

In March 2026, Bay-Area based artist Fernanda Martinez completed two murals on a new restroom building at Rengstorff Park near Magical Bridge Playground. The mural designs, born out of feedback from the Visual Arts, Youth Advisory, and Senior Advisory Committees, are a direct representation of the residents, landscape, and experiences in the City of Mountain View.

New and Restored Art at the Rengstorff Aquatics Center

  • “Flying Waves” by Masako Miki: Two wave-inspired benches made of recycled redwood, echoing the motion of water and welcoming visitors at the entrance.

  • “Reflection, Refraction, Diffraction” by Liz Hickok: A lenticular wall installation that shifts as you walk by, mimicking light and water movement inside the facility.

  • “Aquadream” by WOWHAUS (Scott Constable & Ene Osteraas‑Constable): Three droplet-shaped sculptures on the pool deck that serve as playful, water-themed seating.

  • Restored “Mosaic Fish Sculptures” (Unknown artist, 1959): Three colorful mosaic fish from the original 1959 pool, now restored and displayed in the lobby.
