Business Ambassador Team
The City of Mountain View created a dedicated Business Ambassador Team to help businesses better understand and navigate the City's permitting application processes.
The Business Ambassador Team is led by the Economic Development division with participation of key staff from the City’s Building and Planning Divisions, and Public Works Department.
This Ambassador Team is designed to help with the following scenarios for small businesses in Mountain View:
- Established businesses undertaking, or preparing to undertake, improvements to a leased or owned space;
- Established businesses seeking to modify their existing use of a leased or owned space; and
- Businesses, brokers, or developers seeking guidance on permitting requirements for prospective commercial spaces in Mountain View.
Whether you are a business owner looking at moving into Mountain View, or an established Mountain View business seeking to expand or renovate your space, the Business Ambassador Team will provide personalized guidance on permits and regulations.
Regular Meetings
The Business Ambassador Team has a regularly scheduled meeting every other Wednesday at 3:30 pm to review and discuss permits and their process. The meetings allow for a more seamless approach to identifying or address and potential issues. If you need assistance and wish to utilize the Business Ambassador Team please contact us at econ.dev@mountainview.gov.
In your email, please identify:
- Identify relationship to the project (existing or prospective business owner, broker, and/or developer)
- Address of site
- Lease / ownership status
- Summary of your project. Including the following information, where applicable:
- Where you are in the process
- Relevant information about the property
- Current or proposed business type / use (and change of use, if applicable)
In some cases staff will be able to address questions and issues without the need to convene the Business Ambassador team, other project may necessitate conversations with the whole team. Staff will advise you on the process.
Projects that involve certain health, safety, and other risk factors, may be beyond the scope of the Business Ambassador Team (the City of Mountain View's permitting responsibility). If this is the case, staff will inform requestors and will try to provide additional resources for your project.
