Public Art Strategy

The Visual Arts Committee (VAC) has been exploring the development of a Public Art Strategy since 2019, with renewed efforts beginning in 2022. Over the past several years, the VAC has researched best practices, discussed a vision and goals for art in Mountain View, and considered policy approaches to expand opportunities for public art in Mountain View. This work is intended to create a framework that makes public art more accessible, reflective of community diversity, and supportive of placemaking and cultural vitality.

Following a City Council held a Study Session in October 2024, the City launched an extensive community engagement phase to help shape the strategy's priorities.

Project Status: Finalizing the Strategy

Community outreach for the Public Art Strategy is now closed. We would like to thank the residents, artists, businesses, and visitors who participated in our surveys, workshops, and pop-up events. Your feedback is currently being used to refine the strategy's goals and ensure the future of public art reflects the voices of the Mountain View community.

The City is now preparing the final document for City Council adoption, tentatively scheduled for Fall 2026.
